One new relationship can change everything...

Do you ever feel insecure about certain aspects in your life or worry how others may judge you?  Once you start being honest with yourself and with others, you will see the world is not a lonely place.   Everyone can either understand, or support your story.

In April 2013, my husband and I were in need of a spiritual relationship to help guide us with his battles with addiction.  It was 6 months prior to our wedding when I finally stopped being naive to the truth that was in front of me. I didn't want to see it, because i feared it.  His addiction changed everything.  His struggles were even changing me, and I didn't even see it.  I now struggle with my own insecurities, the constant worries, trust, and emotional exhaustion.  It has made me crazy at times, because I can't relate with him.  What I have learned from all of this, is I can be my husbands rock, rather than turn away.  Once we accepted our struggles from this disease, we were building that spiritual relationship we were missing.

Michael and I decided to go to Journey Community Church because we had heard great things.  I remember our first day vividly, it wasn't by coincidence we were there... God wanted us there!  It just so happened that Pastor Jim decided to change things up that morning, and gave his word from the Cafe, instead of the auditorium.  The service that day was, "Don't let your struggle be your Headline!"  My husband, who has always defined himself by his struggles, has only viewed life that way.  He needed to start seeing his self-worth.  Its because of his battles that we found God, and found the strength to overcome the hurdles that come our way.

Now, don't get me wrong, the challenges are still an ongoing struggle.  But we are letting our Faith guide us.  My husband has been in a rehabilitation program since this past July.  I have finally surrendered, sought help, and started to build a foundation for myself.  It is by God's grace alone, we are able to get through.  By his grace I have not given up on my husband or our marriage.  I have a great man by my side, and with the biggest heart of anyone I know.  I will continue this journey as long as I put my faith in God.

This Climb is for my relationship with our Heavenly Father. Trusting him to get me through the challenges.  Its believing that I am strong enough to overcome any situation.  This climb is to give those hope, and that no matter what obstacle you face, and what gets in the way, he will help you rise above those circumstances.

I am climbing to raise awareness for the Cleveland Hope Center that will be open in 2016, and Church planting in Northeast Ohio!  To help people persevere over what life throws at them.  The Cleveland Hope Center will help people find jobs, feed families, provide counseling, and build their faith in God.  I heard this recently from a Leader at a recent service: God Loves To Restore Broken Dreams.  God Loves To Restore Broken Hope.

I hope my story will inspire others.  I hope this challenges you to be open minded to the disease of addiction and how it enslaves those who suffer, and the loved ones of the suffering.   Not to be discouraged by your adversity, but rather it strengthen you.

For Christians, pray for me and my fellow climbers.  For non believers, send good vibes our way!
