Hi Friends and Family, Those of you that know my story are well aware of the loss that my family has suffered and you also know my passion for riding bikes.
I lost my mom Beryl, to breast cancer in 2011, and my brother Phil in 2002 to Melanoma. As I type this, my father is battling as well. I have been fortunate in my life but what I learned in watching them all fight is that this life is a gift. It is fleeting and it is meant to be lived and enjoyed. The sadness we feel in the loss of a loved one is because of all the great times we had with them.
The times I can still feel my mom and brother the most is when I am on my bike. We have great conversations. BUT I need to do something to help others and this Big Pig thing was it for me. This is a grassroots organization that takes the money you give, and pays the bills of the families that are fighting cancer. I say "families" because it is a fight that involves everyone. 100% of your money goes straight to a family that needs it.
So I get to ride my bike for 6 hours and talk it out with my mom. You get to help a family focus on the fight and not the bills. This is a win, win, win because your donation is tax-deductible.

Hi friends!
First and foremost, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all you have given. I am so grateful for your support.
It's been awhile since I posted and I wanted to let you know about a few things.
#1) I was voted onto the Big Pig Racing Team. That was truly humbling and exciting. It's a lot to live up to but I am COMMITTED to the ride and COMMITTED to this cause. It is the Big Pig Cancer Foundation that attracted me in the first place but moreover, I am surrounded by men and women that are passionate about the sport of cycling and 100% COMMITTED.
#2) While training for this race and the El Paso Puzzler, I had an accident and ended up tearing my ACL, MCL, Meniscus and fractured my Fibula. I'll have surgery in a couple weeks to repair the damage but unfortunately I will not be on my bike for a while. Dr. says I will make a full recovery. It could have been much worse.
#3) I will still be at the race. I am planning to help on the "stairway to bacon" (yes that's a thing) or anywhere else I am needed. I COMMITTED to this and I am going to see it through. Your donations are vital whether I race or not.
Your commitment to me has been overwhelming and I plan to see this through. I will recover, I am COMMITTED to the RIDE!
