As a child when I had more vision my favorite activity was cycling. as my vision decreased I was no longer able to cycle alone. Upon moving to New York I discovered an organization called in tandem, which pairs up cited captains and blind stokers on a tandem bike. at the time that I discovered this organization my rheumatoid arthritis was acting up after being in remission for 10 years. Consequently, I wasn’t able to do much physical activity and wasn’t sure if I would be able to cycle. It turns out that cycling did not negatively affect my joints and I went from writing the 6 mile loop in Central Park to completing a 100 mile ride! All of this inspired me to begin running and swimming again which inspired me to now participate in triathlons!
This all of this inspired me to begin running and swimming again which inspired me to now participate in triathlons!
This year I was presented with the opportunity to participate in a weekend of cycling in San Diego, which is in my home state of California. And along with this great opportunity I also get to raise funds for the San Diego Center for the blind. The San Diego Center for the blind provides support to individuals with visual impairments through independent living, counseling, help with finding employment etc. These organizations are vital to the well-being of people with disabilities. Please help me in spreading the word in raising funds for this organization, as well as giving me the opportunity to ride in my home state!
