As a child I used to ride a bike in the local playground. It was small, safe and familiar. As an adult, I considered cycling to remain just a fond memory. Two years ago (44 years after the last time I cycled) I discovered InTandem Biking, a wonderful organization here in New York that provides tandem bikes and more importantly "Captains" (a cyclist who sits in front and does the steering and navigating) enabling visually impaired people such as myself to become cyclists. With my captains I have participated in rides in the New York area ranging from 40-65 miles.
The Blind Stokers Club of San Diego has generously invited us to join them for their 14th Annual Cycling for Sight event this June. I must provide my own plane fare, meals, etc. But must also raise $500 for the organization so that they can continue their fine work of making cycling possible for visually impaired people.
I hope that you'll help me reach this goal with your tax-deductible contribution to BSC.
Thank you very much for considering donating.
Good luck, my friend... and post pics!
What a fun way to experience San Diego.
