18th Cycling for Sight with Blind Stokers Club

I have been an avid cyclist for many years now--having completed many century and double century rides, two cross country treks as well as racing both road and mountain bikes.  My racing and ultra-distance career is over, but I have been fortunate to find a venue that allows me to use my past cycling experience to fulfill me in other ways.  The Blind Stokers Club is a San Diego based club that pairs sighted "Captains" on the front and visually impaired "Stokers" on the back of a tandem bicycle.  The simple experience of riding a bicycle was once not available to the visually impaired.  Being able to provide that experience to a blind "Stoker" has been wonderful.  The club not only provides the organization but also the bikes and equipment needed to get the stokers on the back seat.  The club also sponsors trips to places like Death Valley for riding tours as well as non-riding events to places like Catalina Island.  We have a bare bones organization that runs on a minimum of funds--with any excess money collected donated to the San Diego Center for the Blind.  This year features the 18th (Annual) Cycling for Sight fundraising event that will allow this great organization to keep pedaling down the road.  Please help by donating.  Evan

The Blind Stokers Club (BSC) and San Diego Center for the Blind (SDCB) are excited to be rebounding from pandemic restrictions and hosting the 18th Cycling for Sight on the beautiful campus of the University of San Diego (USD). Your tax deductible donation will provide training and counseling to blind and vision-impaired adults in the region. A portion of each dollar will enable more BVI people to enjoy the simple pleasures of riding a bike. You can help build independence in living, and also foster team relationships in sport.
