Hey, how about a bike ride this Saturday? Sure, sounds great. But imagine if you were blind or seriously vision impaired? Riding a bike, well, I wish I could but....
Cycling for Sight – Blind Stokers Club
This will be my 10th year riding with the Blind Stokers Club in the annual Cycling for Sight. Why you may ask! Well, thanks for asking. I ride to “Share the Ride” with those amazing individuals that want to feel the freedom of riding a bike on sunny (or cool) day, climbing long hills, coasting down even longer downhills, feeling the wind in your face, and can only enjoy this freedom with the Blind Stokers Club because, well, they are blind or vision impaired.
This year I am teamed up with my original stoker Gary Deter. Together we have pedaled all over San Diego County, and more distant locations such as Pismo Beach, Palm Springs, Borrego Springs and recently Death Valley.
The Blind Stokers Club teams up with the San Diego Center for the Blind, which is a small 4-Star (out of 4) charity that strives to increase the abilities of any adult with blindness or visual impairment to reach their own highest level of independence. This annual Cycling for Sight combines a two-day cycling event with their fundraising event, with proceeds benefiting the San Diego Center for the Blind.
Please consider donating to this very worthy cause.
Thank you for your support.
