Dear Friends and Family,
In the summer of 2015 I (Tina) stepped WAY out of my comfort zone and accepted Gods call to the Turkana region of Kenya. I had trouble articulating why I was going but, I was just trying to be faithful in what I was going to do – a water project. I saw God work in so many countless ways and I fell in love with the people there. Little did I know how He was preparing me.
Based on my experiences in 2015, I’m going back this year with a mission; Days for Girls. Their website is HERE if you want to check it out. It is SO cool and fills a massive need in underdeveloped areas of the world. I will be serving on a team that will assist local nationals to equip and distribute feminine hygiene kits and participate in women’s reproductive health training… things that women in the west take for granted every day. Our goal is to make and distribute 1600 kits (WOW), that is a goal that only God can deliver on. In truth, my mission trip began in the spring of last year, when I started to prepare to make these kits, my journey continues today and is the fuel that pushes me forward to July.
Ken will be going to Kenya as well! While not participating in feminine hygiene distribution (for obvious reasons…), he will be working on a building team that will be making huts for abandoned women with children in the undeveloped region outside Lodwar. Kind of a scaled down version of Extreme Makeover; Home Addition. Thankfully, there won't be any electrical or plumbing... that is way out of his expertise!
All of our work will be in the Turkana region of Kenya. (The link shows you a map...)
We feel blessed to have this incredible opportunity to help others and know there is a lot of work ahead as we continue to prepare. We could use your help! First, we would be honored if you would pray for us…for preparation, for our journey, our ministry and for the spiritual battles surely ahead. Secondly, if you would like to participate locally, we could REALLY use your help. You can join a growing group of women who are serving other women half way around the world. For this trip, all of the hygiene kits will be made here and brought to Kenya with us; prepping fabric, sewing, packing kits, inventory, cutting ribbon (to name a few…); there is a litany of things that need to be done that will encompass any skill level. Here is a link to our DfG Anaheim FaceBook page…Finally, we’d like to know if you would contribute to the work we are doing by donating financially to the ministry. Ken & I will be paying for our trip, but all the money that is raised will be going to the hygiene kit supplies and anything left over will go to help fund the materials for the home building project. We would love nothing more than to raise our goal!
If you chose to donate, all fundraising needs to be completed by June 1, 2017. If you wish to partner with us financially in this ministry, please click on the “GIVE NOW” button to donate.
