It’s not very often I send out posts, however, this is too important to pass on.
As you know Cedar Rapids is full of top-notch non-profits agencies doing outstanding work in Cedar Rapids.
Youth For Christ is one of those non-profits, and it’s because of its mission that it ranks right at the top of my list.
This August 19th Youth for Christ will be bringing in Over the Edge. Over The Edge provides non-profits a unique way of raising money.
The way it works, those individuals that would like the opportunity to go “over the edge” must raise $1000.00 for this opportunity, or, some people choose to raise enough money for the opportunity to toss their boss.
My reason for posting this is, I would like to raise $1,000.00 to support hurting teens in our community and to raise awareness about cancer.
I was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. It affects 1 in 1.5 million people and affecting my bones. It is an auto-immune disease. I was first diagnosed in October 2012 and went to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to meet with the oncologist, Dr. Eric Jacobson. Cancer returned a year and a half later for the second time. My oncologist in Cedar Rapids worked with his oncologist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. I underwent 66 rounds of chemotherapy in the last 4 years and I just finished my last chemotherapy in August of 2016. I continue to have scans and checks every three months. It has been a long journey, but one that has forever changed my life.
I want to help give back to teens in our community and spread awareness about cancer.
Will you help me?
To God Be the Glory!
