Got time for a story? In August 2021 I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. Over the next year I did 4 months of chemo infusions, daily radiation and oral chemo for 25 days, and 2 surgeries. After all that my oncologist said congrats! You're NED! (That's no evidence of disease for those of you fortunate enough to not need to know that). They said to return to my pre-cancer life and carry on. Yeah right. Here's the thing... cancer treatment practically kills ya. I felt 100 times worse the day I heard I was NED than the day I was diagnosed. How do you just carry on from there?
Enter Triumph Cancer Foundation. They offer work outs for cancer survivors. Something starting small and building. Exactly what I needed. Not only that, you're doing it with other cancer survivors. Perfect. I completed the program in April and am now participating in Triumph to the Summit to raise money for the foundation.
Now time for some real talk. I don't know if I'll make it to the summit. I still have issues I'm working through. But I do know that I'm going to try. And if I don't make it this year, I'll try again next year. But either way, raising money for Triumph is a win regardless.
Thanks for your support.
