About This Campaign

Due to COVID19, Terry was not able to "do" his normal walk - leaving his home in Summerfield, NC on May 1st and arriving in DC for Memorial Day. Undaunted, and without any fanfare (which is how Terry lives his life) he will continue his mission.

On July 1, 2019, Terry will begin his annual walk to raise awareness of the current Veteran suicide rate, which stands at 22 per day — the equivalent of one Veteran committing suicide every 65 minutes. In addition Terry hopes to bring attention to Veteran hunger and Veteran homelessness, both of which have a direct correlation to the Veteran suicide rate. Terry at age 69, will walk from Summerfield, NC to Washington, DC to bring attention to this terrible plight. That is a trip of 300 miles, some very hard miles, but Terry wants to bring attention to the Veteran’s Issues. This will be the 7th year for Terry making his walk, and his 8th 300 mile walk (he did two in one year). While Terry will be joined for part of the journey by some past supporters, this year he will be "on his own" for most of the trip - and really needs our support! This will likely be Terry's last long march, and he really wants to make a financial impact, as well as the personal impact he always achieves.

Terry has chosen to donate all proceeds from this year's walk once again to Nine Line Foundation, an all volunteer non-profit, whose mission is to greatly improve and enhance the lives of some of our nation's most severely combat wounded veterans. The current initiative is to build a Veterans' Village - a cluster of tiny homes, a community center and an aquaponics training program, so that currently homeless veterans can get the help they need to re-engage in society and ultimately move on to a better life.

Terry is standing up for those who can't speak for themselves - and is walking to help provide a much needed "hand up" to a veteran in need. PLEASE show Terry that you support him - there is no donation too small, and every penny raised goes to support the initiative. Nine Line Foundation takes their responsibilities very seriously - EVERY penny goes to support the initiative. Nine Line Foundation has no "brick and mortar", no salaried employees and Officers / Board Members bear their own administrative costs.
