My "f" cancer story...Dr. Puccinelli called me after my PAP test.  "Dia, it's uterine cancer and it's the best one you can have."  Really, great, cancer, best one.  WTH???  Thanks to my OB/GYN I began my "f" cancer journey on a positive note.  Dr. Mahvani later shared the chemo and radiation plan.  "Will I lose my hair?" "Yep!!!"  My friend shaved my head between chemo treatments #1 & #2.  Some how I lost my hair and found my smile.  During the summer of 2019 I took many selfies with random bald guys. Some I knew and some I didn't know.  Nobody said NO!  At each chemo appointment I took a photo "flipping the bird" at the Kaiser Oncology sign! If you know me, this is totally my personality. For me knowing that my cancer was most likely not life threatening I just went through the process.  What do I need to do?  Okay, let's just do it.  

Then I found Triumph Cancer Foundation.  Michelle walked the Shamrock Marathon several years ago and learned that Triumph was the benefactor of the Marathon.  She encouraged me to research Triumph.  I did.  That was pre-COVID.  Triumph does post cancer treatment exercise programs for cancer patients in local gyms.  I'm not the gym group class girl.  I can go to the gym and use the equipment but you would be unlikely to find me in a class.  Then COVID hit and Triumph pivoted and offered exercise classes via ZOOM.  I could do this and did it last summer for 12 weeks from the comfort of my living room with Emma and Moo wandering through.  We had two post cancer certified exercise trainers lead six of us via ZOOM.  They offered physical and mental support! We received all our necessary equipment at no charge!!! What???  I would have gladly paid for it!  Nope, Triumph offers this free!

This summer I have the opportunity to join the Triumph to the Summit program!  Graduates of the Triumph exercise program can participate in Triumph to the Summit.  The goal is to hike weekly and then successfully hike to the summit of Mt. Tallac in Tahoe!  Can I make it to the top of Mt. Tallac?  I have no idea, but I will hike weekly and build up to the summit goal!  Part of the Triumph to the Summit purpose is paying it forward and fundraising to provide exercise training to those future cancer patients.  I am grateful to those prior Triumph participants who raised funds so I could benefit from last summer's exercise program.  I hope you will consider supporting my "BHAG" aka "big hairy a*s goal" of raising $1500.  It's easy and safe to give and any amount is appreciated!  I hope you will join me in my fundraising goal so we can help others who have successfully completed their cancer treatments and begin to get their lives back!  Thank you so much for your support!
