Hello friends and family,

This past year threw me a few “curve balls” with the biggest being a cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery.  My physical therapist connected me with Triumph Cancer Foundation.  This non profit has been instrumental in my cancer recovery, increasing my physical strength and mental well-being, and along the way, brought into my life many new friends and role models.

Triumph’s signature program consists of 3 months of 2x/week workouts led by knowledgeable, caring, and motivating trainers.  Along with trainer led workouts, Triumph provides all equipment needed to complete the program.  This is provided at no cost to the participant, which is phenomenal.  Going through cancer treatment is stressful, not only on the body but also on the mind. Providing this program at no cost allows folks to participate easily, focusing energies on recovery.

I graduated the program earlier this year and have now been participating in “Triumph to the Summit.”  Each weekend for the past few months, I have been hiking with a group of phenomenal  people. These hikes have taken us to beautiful areas in Northern California, from the coast to the sierras.

This past weekend was our summit hike.  I was honored to carry ribbons on my backpack, each with the name of someone impacted by cancer.  As we sat at the peak, I spent time looking at and thinking about the names on each of the 50+ ribbons, reflecting on the impact cancer had not only on those dealing with the disease, but also on the family and friends of each person.
