Hi friends and family!
Last year I followed a little nudge in my heart calling me to serve in Uganda, and a seed was planted. This fall I have the opportunity once again to join a medical team from Churchome and return to this place that has absolutely changed me.
While in Uganda, our team will be providing care and medical treatment to people of multiple communities and villages. We will once again host a three-day medical clinic in Katwe, a slum/tent city in the outskirts of Kampala. Our team partners with a local church and a group of Ugandan doctors and medical students to serve nearly 2,000 people in clinic. Each person that walks through the door will have an opportunity to hear the Gospel, receive personal prayer, and see a medical professional. We also provide lab testing for Malaria, HIV, and various STIs, and provide basic health education in women's health, hygiene, and nutrition.
In addition to the medical clinic, our team will participate in several other local outreach projects. We will be partnering with and serving at Destiny Orphanage and School, a home to over 1,500 children who have been orphaned by illness or war in Uganda. In the past, funds raised have been used toward construction of playground equipment as well as meeting basic needs, such as providing mosquito nets and clean water tanks. Our team will also have the opportunity to visit a children’s prison and serve in local churches around Katwe. Some of our team will also be travelling to Karamoja, a remote village community, where past projects have included providing clothing, food, and building a well and irrigation system in this dry and desolate area.
I sincerely appreciate your support, whether financially or in prayer, for our team and this upcoming trip. We truly could not go without people like you sending us, so thank you for joining me on this journey!
