Congo Summer Faith Adventure 2018 - Jessica De La Paz

Dear friends and family,

As most of you know, I am very passionate about serving some the most vulnerable and marginalized communities in our world. Through your prayers, support and encouragement, I have been able to build latrines in El Salvador, pray over women and children of slums in India, train teachers in South Africa, rebuild homes for families who survived Hurricane Harvey in Houston and more. God has opened a new door for me to serve in the Democratic Republic of Congo with an organization called Africa New Day this summer!

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has experienced wars and conflicts since 1996. The combination of violence, disease, hunger, and the frequent and ongoing abduction of children have claimed the lives of close to 6 million people. Africa New Day's goal is to minister to the root causes of conflict in order to address present situations, reconcile the past, and prevent future recurrences of crisis.

On August 1-13, I will have the opportunity to engage in their ministry called Women of Congo, which provides literacy and language training, vocational skills, and spiritual therapy for women. I will also be able to serve in the Generation Hope ministry, which provides education, mentorship, and Christ-centered spiritual leadership for children. I am very excited to engage in these two areas, and know that there will be many more opportunities to serve!

My humble request to you is to consider this as an opportunity to invest in the vision to bring about transformation and life change for the women, men, and children of Congo by sending me to Congo this August. There are two ways to do this: pray and give. I will need to be covered in prayer for God to accomplish what only He can through my team and I. I also need to raise $4,000 to be able to go.
