The Friendship Paddle
I am very familiar with what it's like to be working hard, raising a young family and be suddenly diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Eighteen years ago I was very blessed and fortunate to survive, but the physical, emotional and financial toll was substantial. Thanks to the support we received from friends, family and the community we were able to make it.
I pay it forward by supporting those currently battling cancer and fighting for their lives. This year it's a good friend and Santa Barbara local Mike Kelley who has participated in The Friendship Paddle for many years. Unfortunately Mike has pancreatic cancer and is in a trial program for treatment the cost of which is not covered by insurance.
Once again a group of us will be prone and stand-up paddling across the Santa Barbara Channel to honor our recepient and raise financial support for his family and his treatment. The landing will be at the Santa Barbara Yacht Club on the afternoon of Sunday, September 15th.
While the funds raised are for Mike Kelley, I will also be paddling in honor of my mother who is battling lung cancer. I am humbled by your continued support of me, the Friendship Paddle and it's beneficiaries, I appreciate your participation again this year. Thank you so much.
