Our team "The Knee Braces" is raising money for the Harmony Acres Equestrian Center through the Hit the Trail for Harmony Acres event. Harmony Acres serves over 200 individuals each year through animal-assisted therapies, and is raising funds to add interior handicapped-accessible restrooms for the people they serve.

This cause is very important to us, so our team of four hikers and runners will be heading out on various trail adventures to show our support. Collectively, we plan to hike and run at least 300 miles in and around Colorado National Monument between now and November 10th.

Please donate towards this cause, by clicking the “Give Now” button. You can donate using any major credit card and it only takes 30 seconds. We appreciate your support very much.

While Charlie and Janice were completing their final trail on Colorado National Monument, Teri was enjoying beautiful views of the Monument during a ten-mile run on Spanish Trail, after visiting a staunch supporter of Harmony Acres on Friday.

We made it! Charlie and Janice beat the upcoming storm and enjoyed spectacular views along the Kodel's Canyon trail in Colorado National Monument, completing our objective of hiking every mile of every trail in the Monument by November 10th. The map shows (in red) the GPS tracks of all our hikes during this fundraiser. Now that we've met our hiking goal, we're hoping for some more donations so we can meet the fundraising goal too.

November 6, 2020 5:33 PM

With rain and snow forecast for the weekend, Charlie and Janice took the day off today to hike the Monument Canyon, Wedding Canyon and Coke Ovens trails in Colorado National Monument. Now we only have one more trail left to complete our fundraiser and we'll fit that in between the storms over the next couple of days. We'll meet our goal of hiking every mile of every trail in the Monument by November 10th and we're hoping for some more donations so we can meet the fundraising goal too.

The Black Ridge Trail is popular for sure! After Charlie and Janice hiked it yesterday, Teri and Bryn followed in their (muddy) footprints today.

November 1, 2020 2:00 PM

Charlie and Janice hiked the Black Ridge Trail in Colorado National Monument this morning, with perfect weather: not a cloud in the sky and no wind. Four more trails to go now, we're still on track with our goal of hiking every mile of every trail in the Monument by November 10th and we're hoping for some more donations so we can meet the fundraising goal too.

Charlie and Janice enjoyed wonderful views of the Grand Valley from high on Old Gordon Trail in Colorado National Monument, while Teri completed a 15 mile run along the Riverfront Trail. We're all still on track with our hiking and running goals, hoping for some more donations so we can meet the fundraising goal too.

October 29, 2020 8:09 PM

Charlie and Janice enjoyed beautiful sunset views from the C.C.C. Trail on Colorado National Monument, despite very muddy conditions after Sunday's snowstorm. We're still on track with our goal of hiking every mile of every trail in the Monument by November 10th and we're hoping for some more donations so we can meet the fundraising goal too.

October 27, 2020 8:03 AM

Teri enjoyed a 5-mile hike on the Grand Mesa with Grace, the captain of the Rodeo Rabbits team. And Jan, who does Grace's website updates..

October 25, 2020 1:59 PM

With rain and snow in the forecast, Charlie and Janice hiked some short trails in Colorado National Monument this morning, so as to be close to the shelter of a warm car: Alcove Trail, Canyon View Trail, Window Rock Trail and Otto's Trail. We're still on track for our goal of hiking every mile of every trail in the Monument by November 10th and we're hoping for some more donations so we can meet the fundraising goal too.

Charlie hiked No Thoroughfare Canyon, which is aptly named because for several miles in the middle there is no trail. Making it all the way through requires a lot of bushwhacking, long stretches of scary rock scrambling, a fair amount of bad language and a good topo map loaded onto your GPS. But he made it and we're still on track for our goal of hiking every mile of every trail in Colorado National Monument by November 10th. Hoping for some more donations so we can meet the fundraising goal too.

October 21, 2020 7:58 PM

Charlie and Janice enjoyed the cool evening temperatures in Echo Canyon and at Devil's Kitchen. Still on track to hike every mile of every trail in Colorado National Monument by November 10th!

October 19, 2020 7:10 PM

Bryn and Teri hiked in Ute Canyon today, where Teri painted some beautiful watercolors of the stunning scenery.

October 17, 2020 7:28 PM

Over the past few days, The Knee Braces team has made great progress as we kick off our fundraiser.

  • Teri has run 22 miles while also volunteering for several hours at Harmony Acres.
  • Charlie and Janice have enjoyed hiking some beautiful trails in Colorado National Monument: Serpents Trail, the full Liberty Cap Trail, the Ute Canyon Trail the Corkscrew Trail and the short Connector Trail between Liberty Cap and Ute Canyon.

We're on track to meet our mileage goals. Thanks for the kind donations received so far and we're hoping for some more so that we can meet the all-important fundraising goal too.

- Teri, Bryn, Charlie and Janice.
